Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement Surgery
Historically, hip replacement surgery required cutting of 5 or 6 tendons, which was associated with significant muscle trauma and loss of function. Because of the magnitude of this muscle trauma, movement precautions and significant restrictions in activity were required to avoid dislocations for 6 to 12 weeks after hip replacement. After performing over 4,500 minimally invasive hip replacement surgeries, Dr. Penenberg now routinely uses his novel approach that:
- Preserves and protects tendon, muscle, and hip joint capsule
- Typically eliminates traditional post-op precautions and permits early return to function
